Words have great impact, and at Suatukala we believe that learning how to use them with consideration and thought are critical to a child’s development.
The Suatukala Spoken Word workshop takes young teens on a journey to re-discover themselves, and helps them learn how to express their thoughts in the spoken word and theatrical genres.
This year, 30 lower secondary students from Sekolah Menengah Kedawang, Langkawi will undergo a five-day intensive programme under the tutelage of spoken word poets and teachers Elaine Foster, Sheena Baharuddin & Nurul Mohamad. The creative works from these sessions will be performed by the children themselves at the Suatukala Showcase.
This year’s Suatukala Spoken Word workshop is sponsored by IM4U (www.im4u.my), Malaysia’s leading youth volunteer community. iM4U's mission is to help and nuture youth volunteerism plus social activism amongst Malaysian youth via the DRe1M (Dana Sukarelawan 1 Malaysia) Fund creating a platform for Malaysian youth to carry out volunteer and nation building activities that can benefit communities and social groups.
